The Manchester Human Services Department's mission is to promote the health and well-being of Manchester residents.  The Human Services Department includes the Health Department, Senior Adult and Family Services, the Senior Center, Early Childhood Services, the Certified Nurse's Aide program, and the Youth Service Bureau, as well as Community Agencies receiving Town funds, and the Human Services Administrative office.  Click on any of our divisions for information about what we do, how you may benefit, or how you may become involved in some of our programs.

The Town of Manchester will present the next in a series of free, community education sessions in Pandemic Influenza and Emergency Preparedness on Thursday, April 24th, 2008, at 7:00pm in the cafeteria at Nathan Hale Elementary School, 160 Spruce Street, Manchester.

Sessions will be scheduled in each school district, and will be advertised as dates are confirmed. 

Presenters will be Wayne I. Rioux, Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator with the Health Department, and Donald Janelle, Emergency Management Technician with Manchester Fire-Rescue-EMS. 

Attendees will hear about:

  • Pandemic Influenza and other emergency situations,  
  • Manchester’s pre-planning and training to prepare for Pandemic Influenza and other emergency situations,
  • Information to prepare Manchester residents for such events, with the chance to win a Home Preparedness Starter Kit valued at $70 in a free raffle.

Manchester has moved to the forefront in Connecticut in the field of local emergency preparedness planning.  It is believed Manchester is the first community in Connecticut seeking to educate its population in readiness for serious events that may affect every person in Town.
